Quick facts about the history of Pharmacy Week

The first National Pharmacy Week was observed in 1925!

The pharmacist noted to have pioneered National Pharmacy Week was Robert J. Ruth.

The two original purposes of National Pharmacy Week were to:

  1. Serve as an instrument to remind pharmacists everywhere of their responsibility to a Code of Ethics that binds them to guard the public’s health and welfare
  2. Make the public aware of the standing of the pharmacist in the community

Past co-sponsors of National Pharmacy Week include:

  1. Rotary International
  2. Lions International
  3. Kiwanis International

Our National Affiliate Organization, ASHP, has plenty in store for National Pharmacy Week as well!
