UF Jacksonville | Student Chapter Highlight

UF Jacksonville

Our SSHP chapter at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy is based in Jacksonville, FL. The Jacksonville campus is unique because it is located within a major academic medical center campus, UF Health Jacksonville, just minutes from downtown. Our SSHP Chapter’s mission is to maximize exposure to various fields of health-system pharmacy at our campus and we plan to accomplish that with our various innovative and rewarding events.

Last semester, we were able to initiate ASHP’s “Workforce and Well-Being Resilience” program in conjunction with our Christian Pharmacist’s Fellowship International (CPFI) student chapter. We were able to impact more than 40 students through an interactive presentation where we covered different topics dealing with workforce burnout. In addition to this program, we established a Vancomycin Dosing Workshop with the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) student chapter where members were able to practice initiating and modifying doses on various patient cases.

In addition to our annual events, we also teamed up with the Total Care Clinic to have Medication Review Sessions at local senior centers every month. Our goals with this patient care project were not only to educate patients about their current medications, but to also recognize potential drug therapy problems through patient interviews and to answer any drug therapy questions.

We are excited for this upcoming school year and ready to expand our exposure to reach each member of our SSHP chapter!
